Our Mission

Bald Is Not a Diagnosis.

It's a Declaration.

Called To Be Bald was born from Keisha Maria's own journey through Triple Negative Breast Cancer — one of the most aggressive and least understood forms of breast cancer, disproportionately affecting Black women.

When Keisha lost her hair to chemotherapy, she didn't just lose her hair. She lost the version of herself she thought the world needed her to be. And in that loss, she found something far more powerful: her true self.

Called To Be Bald exists to ensure that no survivor walks that road alone — without resources, without community, and without someone who truly understands what it means to rise from the inside out.

Why It Matters

The Numbers Don't Lie.

More likely

Black women are 3x more likely to be diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer than white women

40%
Lower survival

TNBC has significantly lower 5-year survival rates compared to other breast cancer subtypes

1 in 8
Women affected

1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime — many with no family history

Silence
Is the enemy

Most survivors suffer in isolation — without community, without honest conversation, without a safe space to rise

What We Do

Four Pillars of the Movement

Community

A private, judgment-free space for TNBC survivors and ATM Gene carriers to connect, share, and support one another through every stage of the journey.

Education

Plain-language resources about Triple Negative Breast Cancer, the ATM Gene mutation, treatment options, and what no one tells you about life after diagnosis.

Advocacy

Amplifying the voices of Black women in cancer research, clinical trials, and healthcare policy — because representation in the room changes outcomes.

Healing

Applying the H.E.A.L. Method — Honesty, Empowerment, Accountability, and Love — to help survivors rebuild identity, purpose, and joy after treatment.

"

Losing my hair was the first time I stopped hiding. Bald was the most honest I'd ever been.

The Method

H.E.A.L. Applied to Survival

The same framework Keisha uses in her keynotes and coaching programs is the backbone of Called To Be Bald — because healing isn't a destination, it's a daily practice.

H
H
Honesty

Telling the truth about where you are — not where you wish you were. Honesty is the first act of healing.

E
E
Empowerment

Reclaiming agency over your body, your story, and your future — even when the diagnosis tried to take all three.

A

Accountability

Showing up for your own healing — your appointments, your community, your mental health — even on the hardest days.

L
L
Love

Choosing radical self-love as a survival strategy. Not in spite of the scars, but because of them.
